PitsburgWe are going to Pittsburg this year. I hope that this year's reunion will have lots of people there. May 20-May23 will see the Association at the Sheraton Station Square Hotel. The hotel is right downtown, located in Station Square and is the only riverfront hotel and just steps away form downtown shopping centers with over 30 shops, restaurants and night-clubs. We are planning on chartering a river boat (they call them boats) for a luncheon cruise Friday. The station Square Dock of the Gateway Clipper Fleet is only a short walk from the hotel so we won't have to use busses this time. We can also hold our Memorial Service aboard the boat. I'll have more details later on. The river cruise in New Orleans was a big success, so this one should be fun, too. The hotel has a full service in-house restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. All you Atkins dieters are going to love this hotel - you can eat the pounds off in this place! You can get our special rate three days before and after the convention if you want to come early and stay longer. Father Feeney says this is a great place. Bill Miller checked it out and agrees with Bob. Panama CityLast Year's visit to Panama City was everything we expected and more. There were so many people there that the name tags really were a necessity. Gene even color coded them to let us know what group we all fell into. Never having been to one of the actual reunions I was amazed at all the stuff up for auction. I hope that those of you who haven't made it to a reunion will get to go as they are really something! I've got photos and some new remembrances - but as I've been especially busy I've been bad and not gotten them up. They will make it up soon, though. San Diego! The Boxer trip went wonderfully! There are photos of the USS Boxer visit here. The whole trip was amazing! DD741 Memorial WallOn Tuesday, 13 November, 2001, the People's First Community Bank dedicated a beautiful memorial to the men of the USS Drexler. The ceremony and the days leading up to it were a treat for the men and their families. People's First went out of their way to pay honor to these American Heroes.
