Some parts of the refit are still not accessible through the main page. You should be able to reach what is available, even if they are not available from the main page from the site map, located both HERE or at the bottom of the main page. Thanks for your patience.

Monument of the Month

Nashville, TN

This fine monument is placed in a new and innovative memorial in Nashville that tells the story of Tennessee's history. There are five pillars that each detail one aspect of the war. Click HERE to find out more and view the photos.

Downloads

Do you want our collection of photos? Well, here is where you can get it in one swoop. I've zipped all the ship pics and all the people pics into collections. Click on the appropriate link and you will be prompted to download the files. In order to unzip the files you will need an unzipper utility, such as WinZip. Many of these are available free from the internet.

Radio Station

The Home Port now has it's own radio station! If you have a Yahoo! ID you can click HERE to listen to our radio station. This feature doesn't work well with dialup as the music is presented in full streaming audio. But for those with higher connections, it works well. The music that is featured is from the late 30's and early 40's. I hope you like this new addition - please be sure to tell me how it works for you!

Image of the Month

Monthly changes in images will be placed here. These images may or may not be other places on the site, so you'll want to check in regurlarly.

How long has it been?

The timer from 28 May 1945 will be placed here. Also a timer that runs until the next reunion.

Newsflash!

For Memorial Day the Drexler was FEATURED in the newspaper in<<<>>>>. The author of the article was kind enough to send us a copy for the website. Please take a moment to read this wonderful article.

The Home Port has undergone it's first extensive refit in two years. I hope you all like the new layout and features.

Book of the Month

Memoirs of WWII by Selma Sludge

Memoirs has lots of beautiful photos and good naratives. Click HERE to find out more from Amazon.

Books are a large part of how the current generation of kids learn about WWII. Here we will detail books - the good the bad and the ugly - about WWII. I am working on a list of those who tell a good account of the war, the Pacific theatre, the Drexler and other ships. I am also making a list of those books that I have found that have inaccuracies.

Also listed on the books page are other media - DVD's, VHS tapes, Computer programs that center around World War II - both in the Pacific and European theatre.

Fun Things!

I'm working on some fun items that we can put here. I've already got some word searches and am working on some crosswords. I'll see what else I can find to put here.

Extended Family News and Soapbox

Here you will find news from our extened family. Since so many of our members are families and friends of the Drexler men, I thought it would be appropriate to give them some of their own room.

For instance, my adopted sister brought home a little girl from China at the end of July. Miss Kaley Meing celebrated her first birthday in August.
