Jim Armstrong recalls...

"I was on a twin 40mm gun mount, No. 42, during the attack and lost some member of my gun crew, but don't remember who or who other than Devito. I received a back injury as a result of a flying object of some sort. I walked off the ship as it was going under and when I got into the water, I discovered that one of the CO2 bottles in my lifebelt did not function, and I believe it was William Miller who was in the water with no jacket or belt so we stayed afloat with the help of my belt until such time as we came upon an empty 40mm ammo can, and at that time he transfered to it. We were later picked up by one of the LCS's."
